About Serenity Jewelers
About 22 years ago, my good friend Roman W. was teaching his students at a jewelry school that he owned and operated. One day, a stranger came in and said he would like Roman to design a ring for him. The man explained that he was part of a fellowship and had been sober for a few years. He was really excited and wanted a special ring designed to celebrate his sobriety. He gave Roman some ideas of what he was looking for and then left. He never returned to pick up the ring that Roman designed for him. Coincidentally - not that there are any coincidences in God’s world - Roman himself found and joined the same fellowship a few years later. While being sponsored by another gentleman in the program named Fran LaMountain, his sober journey began. When he showed Fran the ring he had designed, Fran immediately fell in love with the ring and was inspired by its message. The ring displayed a triangle, with the words unity, service and recovery on each side, two praying hands in the middle and an “A” on the right and left sides of the triangle. Fran said to Roman, “I would like you to make 10 of these for me”. He had one ring engraved with his initials and date of sobriety. He put it on his finger and never took it off for the rest of his life. The remaining rings he either gave away or sold. With the exception of the first 10 produced, this ring has been made for very few people, upon request.
In 2004, after many years of struggling to stay sober, I finally celebrated my one year anniversary. Fran presented me with a ring and expressed how proud he was of me. He told me, “we need you to stay. There are a lot of others who are still out there suffering and need help getting and staying sober”.
Today, my good friend Roman is approaching 20 years of sobriety and I will be celebrating 19 years in June. Coming up on 93 years of age, Roman is still driving and going to meetings on a daily basis while also taking care of his wife and helping others. He is quite remarkable. It is Roman’s desire to make this ring available to the entire sober community and he has asked for my help.
If you’d like to purchase this ring for yourself or for someone celebrating an anniversary or just starting out on their sober journey, it will be available here at a reasonable cost. Thank you to all for visiting our website and taking a few minutes to read about who we are. God bless.
